The Eighth Day Series
(MG Fantasy)

HarperCollins

In this riveting fantasy adventure, thirteen-year-old Jax Aubrey discovers a secret eighth day with roots tracing back to Arthurian legend. Fans of Percy Jackson will devour this first book in a new series that combines exciting magic and pulse-pounding suspense.
When Jax wakes up to a world without any people in it, he assumes it's the zombie apocalypse. But when he runs into his eighteen-year-old guardian, Riley Pendare, he learns that he's really in the eighth day—an extra day sandwiched between Wednesday and Thursday. Some people—like Jax and Riley—are Transitioners, able to live in all eight days, while others, including Evangeline, the elusive teenage girl who's been hiding in the house next door, exist only on this special day.

And there's a reason Evangeline's hiding. She is a descendant of the powerful wizard Merlin, and there is a group of people who wish to use her in order to destroy the normal seven-day world and all who live in it. Torn between protecting his new friend and saving the entire human race from complete destruction, Jax is faced with an impossible choice. Even with an eighth day, time is running out.

"Ancient magic pairs nicely with modern intrigue as Jax is forced to navigate his dangerous new reality. Complicated alliances, unclear motives and ruthless villains will keep the pages turning... A promising start to a new trilogy." ~ KIRKUS

"There is an unparalleled mix of evil villains, humor, and background ... The characters are vivid, and Jax is the star. The quest is action-packed, and the world that Salerni builds is unique and engaging. This series is absolutely necessary for middle grades." ~ VOYA

"[The Eighth Day] melds Arthurian legend into present day in much the same way that Rick Riordan uses Greek and Egyptian mythology, with characters being descendants of heroes long thought to be folklore ... The story lends itself to further adventures and readers will be excited to follow Jax and eager to see what happens next." ~ SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL

"Adventure, magic, and Arthurian legend combine in a roller-coaster ride of secrets and mythology." ~ BOOKLIST

    1. Thank you! I'm glad you're a fan! Sadly, the publisher has not chosen to publish a 4th book at this time. But I'm ready to write one if they ever change their minds!

    3. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. :) The publishers choose the authors and the books, not the other way around.

  9. The Eighth Day series is the best set of books I have ever read. I don't even like read. But this book is so interesting that I reread SO MANY times and I'm not even bored. 4TH BOOK??(the publisher should really publish the book, its way too good) I've been waiting for 2 years atleast and I still haven't given up hope. PLEASE LET THERE BE A 4TH BOOK(and a 5th book, and a 6th book, you get the point) This book is WAY TO GOOD to end on the 3rd book.

  10. Why can't you change publishers so you can publish the book? I can't believe HarperCollins isn't publishing the book. Why does sales matter? why not let Scholastic publish the book and maybe some teachers can buy a class set so sales go up. Who doesn't want to buy this set, its a really good series.

    1. I'm thrilled that you love the series so much!

Unfortunately, authors don't pick publishers. Publishers pick the authors, or rather, the books. So, I don't get to choose a publisher and get them to publish my books. Publishers have to pick me. :)

I'm sad that the series ends here, but not sad that I have devoted fans like you!

  11. If there isn't going to be a 4th book, how are we supposed to know how the book ends. Anyway you could tell us what happens??

  12. https://www.findyourpublisher.com/PublisherWizard.aspx?Cat=Lead+Generation+Engine&LS=SearchEngine&SRC=FindYourPublisher.com+MSN&GKW=Publish+Books Maybe you can get a new publisher by using this website. It has that green secure thing on the top left corner. Maybe it isn't a scam. So I was wondering, if the Emrys children can get either their mother or fathers talent, how come all 3 kids got the fathers talent. If Riley is the last of the Pendragons and he marries a kin, won't they have half-kin children. Then all the future Pendragons are going to be half-kins because Riley is the only Pendragon left. Why don't the Kins hate the Emrys? If Merlin was a traitor, why don't they hate the current Emrys. Did the Dulacs actually kill Riley's family, why didn't Riley command them to tell the truth or maybe Jax could use his talent and get the answers. But now Ursula is dead... we never can know now... unless others know...or you could just tell us. Please?? (btw I have alot more questions, this is just a few of them)
